ENF Report

South Carolina Elks Association

Summer Convention, August, 2011

South Carolina continues to make me proud with its efforts to support the Elks National Foundation. South Carolina again finished the Lodge year in the top ten of the Nation.

Twenty of our Lodges surpassed the Grand Exalted Rulers Goal of $4.50/ member last year, and I have certificates for each of those Lodges.  Last year we finished 7th in the nation in per capita standings with $9.24/member.  Our friends in North Carolina did pretty well with a per capita that landed them 22nd in the nation. And the members in Tennessee have improved. They got out of the forties and ended up 38th.

For the second year in a row, the Florence Lodge finished the year in first place in both the per capita standings, and with the highest total donations in the state. Steve Schulman is the Lodge Chairman.
Steve is also the District Chairperson for the Northeast District, and I want to thank him for the good job he has been doing there. I also want to thank Bob Fisette from the Sumter Lodge. Bob is the lodge Chairman there and he is the District Chairman for the Southeast District.

Last year South Carolina donated a total of $64,187.00 to the ENF, and this year should receive back from the Foundation a total in excess of $85,000.00. That is $1.33 back for every dollar that we have donated.

Here’s where we stand this year. As of the end of July, the Seneca Lodge is leading the state in per capita with $18.06 / member. And Summerville is in second place. Seneca is in 6th place in the nation and Summerville is in 8th. Leading in total donations right now is the Charleston Lodge with $10,272.00. Six Lodges in the state have already surpassed the Grand Exalted Rulers Goal, and five Lodges have yet to send in any donations at all. Even so, South Carolina has a current per capita of $3.84/ member, which is good enough to put us in second place nationally. Just in case anyone in the room is interested, North Carolina is in 16th place and Tennessee is in 40th.
